Job Description:

The Finance function at Everest is expanding to build a strong foundation to support significant growth of the International Insurance business. Reporting to the International Head of FP&A whilst working very closely with the Regional Head of Finance for Latin America, the Latin America FP&A Analyst will play a key role in assisting to deliver the full underwriting P&L for the countries and products within the Latin America region. The individual will support the annual planning and forecasting cycle as well as the close process, whilst helping to implement and maintain scalable analysis to support business growth, driving efficiency and automation. The candidate will have a mindset focused on systems, processes, and data as the initial focus will be on continually developing MI to improve forecasting, planning, and actuals variance analysis.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading the delivery of the plan, forecast, and close processes for the full underwriting P&L.
  • Partnering with cost centre owners to proactively manage operating expenses.
  • Identifying variances against plan and forecast, ensuring they are investigated, understood, and resolved where necessary.
  • Generating variance analysis reports, and supporting efforts to develop robust financial performance modelling, including the enhancement of Anaplan.
  • Escalating any financial issues to management and other required stakeholders.
  • Setting and monitoring KPIs and business objectives, whilst helping to recommend and deploy strategies for improving underwriting results.
  • Developing MI and commentary for management by country, product, and function.
  • Supporting the business to understand the financial implications of their decisions, and drive both strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization. In particular, supporting the Head of Latin America, the regional executive team, regional underwriting teams, and the international finance team.
  • Contributing to ad hoc financial projects as required as part of the overall finance function.

Professional Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business/Economics/Finance/Accountancy is preferred, although candidates possessing a degree or qualification in a related or analytical discipline will be considered.
  • A professional accounting qualification is required.
  • Experience of financial planning and analysis in an insurance organization is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask and operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical skills.
  • Effective stakeholder management and business partnering skills to effectively execute plans and implement strategies.
  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to find “win-win” solutions.
  • Self-starter, capable of working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls.
  • Good understanding of insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business.
