Team and Role Overview

We are a leader in the Accident and Health marketplace. With solutions across various Accident and Health segments, our insurance solutions provide protection against unforeseen losses due to accidents or illnesses. France is a new territory for us in this business segment, so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of our journey from the beginning.

The Accident and Health Underwriting Manager will build and underwrite a profitable and sustainable portfolio of Group Personal Accident and Group Business Travel.  As the products and services portfolio will grow, the line of business will be expanded through new and diverse distribution channels.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop, underwrite, and manage a profitable Accident and Health portfolio from scratch.

  • Build the product suite, related with corporate business, group personal accident, business travel, and leisure travel, to allow Everest to compete with the market leaders in the industry.

  • Manage the underwriting process, including development of new products and policy wordings, new segments, as well as business development.

  • Ensure that the underwriting decisions are aligned and comply with company’s goals, rules, and guidelines, and liaise with our broker’s and partners.

  • Maintain the Accident and Health line of business profitability by managing and delivering profitable premium growth with specific focus on underwriting best practices, and closely monitoring operating expenses, commissions, loss ratio, and retention.

  • Represent Everest Accident and Health line of business at various brokers and client industry conferences and events.

  • Assist in the preparation of the Accident and Health business plan, statistics and documentation as required.

  • Support and coordinate with distribution, client engagement, operations and claims teams on all Accident and Health underwriting related matters.

  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining the group personal accident / travel pricing tools with our Actuarial and Product teams to consistently deliver accurate rates that meet our company’s profit objectives.

  • Handle and assist in underwriting administrative work, such as drafting forms, drafting clauses, translation, statistical analysis & data tracking, etc.

  • Plan underwriting and business development actions and report on progress.

  • Compile market data, perform data analysis and provide statistics for strategic planning and product pricing if needed.

  • To periodically participate in discussions with company managers to review business results and identify opportunities for action.

  • Participate in ad hoc projects, e.g., system or process improvement, market research or any new business opportunities.

Candidate Profile                    

The ideal candidate will have:

  • +10 years of relevant work experience in the insurance industry, in a similar multinational environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

  • Accident and Health line of business underwriting experience with strong technical knowledge to develop a profitable portfolio is essential, with strong knowledge and proficiency in the use of underwriting tools, applications, guidelines, and data analytics.

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships both externally, with brokers and partners, and internally.

  • Management skills to recruit, manage and develop a team of underwriters as the business grows, and to contribute to the Everest France management team.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and judgment skills, to use logic rationality and objectivity in decision-making.

  • Solid strategic skills to determine opportunities and threats through comprehensive analysis of current and future trends. Comprehends the big picture.

  • Fluent in spoken and written English and French languages with strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Possession of an outstanding work ethic and desire for knowledge and development.
