Sun Siang Liew is the Chief Data Science Officer of Mt. Logan Capital Management, Ltd. (MLCM)
Sun joined Mt. Logan in March 2025 and is responsible for data science and catastrophe modeling. In this role, he curates data into models that inform decision-making and deliver episodic content to investors and other constituents.
Before joining MLCM, Sun was Senior Vice President of Portfolio Analytics at RenaissanceRe. Prior to that, he was the Head of Portfolio Analytics at AlphaCat Managers, the third-party capital affiliate of Validus Re, where he led investor portfolio construction and product development. Sun started his career as a catastrophe risk analyst at Validus Research.
Sun holds a Master of Quantitative Finance degree from the University of Waterloo, a Master of Statistics degree from Western University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Waterloo. He is also a Financial Risk Manager (FRM), certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
