This position will be based in our London office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week.

Overview

This new role has been created to support Everest’s rapidly growing International Insurance business.  The role holder will lead the development and implementation of our risk management function for our syndicate as Everest seeks to establish its own Managing Agent. The successful candidate will possess relevant industry experience, solid experience implementing best practice risk frameworks, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and excellent influencing skills.

Role Purpose

Collaborating with, and influencing, senior colleagues across multiple functional areas and international Everest offices, this role will have a high profile. As part of a rapidly growing business division, the role holder will have the opportunity to shape this role and the future development of the risk function. The successful candidate will provide risk-based insights to support Everest in making the right business and strategic decisions.

The role requires significant experience within the non-life insurance sector and in-depth understanding of non-life insurance and strategic risks. The role holder will be self-motivated and well-organised and able to manage and prioritise a broad range of activities in the context of a rapidly growing business.

Key Accountabilities

Establishment of the Risk Committee and the development of required reporting to the Committee

  • Supporting the Managing Agent and Syndicate executive team to comply with their regulatory and governance duties
  • Development of Annual Risk plan and delivering actions against the plan
  • Promote continuous enhancement of Everest risk culture.
  • Support the ongoing development, implementation and embedding of an increasingly sophisticated risk management framework while ensuring it meets the required Prudential standards set out by Lloyd’s and PRA
  • Lead the co-ordination of actions to address regulatory developments relating to risk management.
  • Develop key risk indicators and risk dashboards to monitor risk profile and perform environment scans.
  • Managing and overseeing the Managing Agency Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and producing ORSA reports as required
  • Overseeing the internal model validation process in line with applicable regulatory standards and producing independent model validation reports by ensuring the internal model processes are embedded in the business as required by Lloyd’s
  • Undertake deep dive reviews of selected risks within remit.
  • Work in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders spanning senior leadership, department heads, and first line subject matter experts to provide risk management advice, support, oversight and challenge.
  • Liaise with and contribute to Group ERM, leveraging the benefit of local risk management expertise and deploying new Group ERM tools and developments, as appropriate.
  • Produce risk management papers and reporting for Management, Risk Committee and Board, as required.
  • Support and contribute to the annual business planning process

Professional Experience & Skills

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of non-life insurance risks, including strong experience of Lloyd’s Requirements including Principles for doing Business.
  • Experience of internal models and model validation
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to influence.
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships across the business.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional scepticism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office capabilities.
